I want to do medical transcription but I can't find any accessible online courses. So I am looking for any kind of transcription job online. Like caption companys or just people that need audio files transcribed. Does anyone know where I could find something like this? Please help if you can.

Well, that didn't work, and there appears to be a problem with deleting the messed up post. Anyway, if u want to enrol in an online course for medical transcription, you could check out Kay's class at www.kaysclass.com. I hear they have a course wich is accessible, and maybe some of our users that have done it can give you more comments on it.

I actually went through kay's class for a short time but I dind't like it. No text book to study by, just audio recordings that we record like lecture. no grading and no deadlines. Plus I don't really want to do this as a class, I want to go self paced. Those courses just weren't for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Well I found something. The Houston Lighthouse for the Blind offers medical transcription through distance learning now. The only problem so far I'm seeing is that it is very pricy compared to all of the other courses. It takes 18 months, it's a class setting but you get independent time as well. And it is $750 a month. SO it'll end up being 13,500. It's basically like a college setting and that would be about the right price if you were to go to college and stuff. The reason it might be a problem is because my state services are cheap! If it's too much they may not want to pay for it. So I'll see what I can do. I just thought I would let everyone know that the houston lighthouse does it through distance learning now if anyone else has been looking for something like this.

Hello!

I'm currently studying medical transcription. The course I'm taking is through a program called Career step. Their site can be found here.

The course is designed to be completed in four months of full time study, but you can take up to a year to complete the course, with extentions available on a case-by-case basis. So far, aside from the pictures in the anatomy section of the course, it's accessible.
Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

-John

If I finish my degree on time, i'm planning to do this as well. I heard a lot of good comments about this one, and besides you get well paid, and you can also balance it with your other jobs. So, Medical transcription can give you more income other than your current job. It's a good deal. Good Luck with that.

Was a medical transcriptionist for 38 and a half years. Good money but the technology is getting tricky in a lot of companies because of voice recognition software that jaws can't read. From the little info I have the Houston lighthouse does offer a course but just know that a lot of companies have this voice recognition stuff and others are sending a lot of work overseas. I wanted 2 more years of typing but it got too stressful with the constant technology changes.
